Admission Requirements and Testing
4 easy step to becoming a Technical Institure Student

STEP 1

Applying to the Technical Institute
The Technical Institute is a division of Camden County Technical Schools and anyone 18 years of age or older and not currently attending high school is eligible for admission. Prospective students should apply for admission as soon as possible since class size is limited. Candidates who are currently in high school should submit their application in their senior year. Individuals may only take a program once. To apply, just complete the application form located at the bottom of this page, include the non refundable $30 application fee (check or money order, NO CASH) and mail it to:

The Admissions Office - Building #11
Technical Institute of Camden County
343 Berlin Cross Keys Road

High School Diploma/GED
A copy of your high school transcript or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required for many programs and must accompany your application. Please note that some programs do not require a high school diploma or GED; this is indicated within the program description.

STEP 2

Taking the Pre-assessment Test
A satisfactory rating must be achieved on the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) for admission into some programs (refer to the course description); it will indicate if an "Entrance Assessment" is required.
There is a $20 testing fee (money order or Credit Card only) each time you sit for this test regardless of whether you are taking all five sections or only one. Payment can be paid in person prior to the date of the test at the following locations/times:

• Adult Admissions Office, Building #11, on the Gloucester Township campus between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday

• Adult Main Office, Building #1, on the Gloucester Township campus between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday

• Pennsauken Campus Adult Office between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday

Payment must be in the form of a money order or Visa, MasterCard or American Express; we will not accept a personal check or cash for this test.

If you plan to pay this fee the day of the test, arrive at least ½ hour before your scheduled test time; you cannot be late arriving at the testing room. You must have your paid receipt in order to be admitted to the testing room. These receipts will be collected by the proctor prior to administering the test and they will not be returned.

Scheduling the TABE
Once your application has been received, you will be notified by mail of the date and location for the pre-assessment test. However, for your convenience, you may walk into the test site without an appointment. Note: However, LPN Candidates are tested by appointment only and we will only reschedule test dates three times. Upon arrival, check in at the main office to pay your testing fee. A current photo ID and receipt for testing fee must be shown to the proctor in order to be admitted to the testing room.

The exam schedule:

January to March: Every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., and Thursday at 5:00 p.m.
April and May: The second week of the month on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and Thursday at 5:00 p.m.
June to December: Every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., and Thursday at 5:00 p.m

Testing is at the Gloucester Township Campus only
343 Berlin Cross Keys Rd.
Sicklerville, NJ

Please allow at least three (3) hours for the test. You will be notified of your acceptance into a program by mail within three weeks.

Waiving the TABE
High School Proficiency Test/Assessment (HSPT/A scores that are not more than five years old may be used in lieu of sitting for the TABE. Successful completion of 60 college credits may also waive the pre-assessment test.

Submit a high school transcript indicating HSPT/A scores or a college transcript to the Coordinator of Admissions and Student Services, who will review these records and determine if the pre-assessment is to be waived. Please note that the TABE is not waived for applicants to the LPN program; in addition, LPN, Cosmetology, and Dental Assistant candidates are limited to taking the test a maximum of 2 times within a school year.

STEP 3
